Football

Commitment, hard work and dedication will be required by you before you can wear the Orange and White. Once you have tried out and made the team/squad, you will have accomplished achievement for which you can be proud. Being a member of the Woodland Jr Wolves means much more than just learning about and playing football or being a cheerleader. As an athlete, both on and off the field, you are a representative of Woodland Jr wolves and are expected to act accordingly, no matter what the circumstances.

Squads

The Woodland Junior Wolves offers four squads.  The player’s age as of August 1  determines the team level of participation, and the player’s weight determines eligibility for positions.  Players meeting the “skilled player” weight limits are eligible to participate anywhere on the field of play.  A player weighing more than the skilled player weight may participate as an X-Man only.

X-Man Rules

Minimum Play Rule

Throughout the SYF there is no “minimum play or PAR” rule for football. The WJW Organization chooses to sustain the integrity of the program and continue to support a minimum amount of plays per game as defined below. We support coaching up our younger players to give them the opportunity to learn, but also maintain the integrity of safety in all aspects.

SQUAD MINIMUM PLAY REQUIREMENTS
Junior Pee Wee Minimum of 6 plays per player
Pee Wee Minimum of 6 plays per player
Junior Midget No minimum play rule
Midget No minimum play rule

The Minimum Play Rule is excluded from all Play Off & Championship games.
Player’s who do not attend practice all week before a game forfeit the Minimum Play Requirement.

Equipment

Everything will be provided for your Jr Wolf for practice and games except cleats, practice jersey and a girdle.  Practice jerseys will be available for sale at the WJW Football Camp and the first week of practice.  Girdles are not mandatory; a belt will be provided to attach the hip and tale pads, although a girdle is much more comfortable for the player.  A mouth guard will be provided.

Practices

The rigorous conditioning  program kicks off the first week of August with practices for two hours each day, five nights per week (typically Monday through Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.)   Once games begin, practices drop down to two hours a day, three nights per week.

Attendance

Attendance is important for our organization to succeed. If your player is going to be late or absent from practice, YOUR PLAYER MUST CALL YOUR HEAD COACH BEFORE THE START OF PRACTICE.

Missing one practice during a one week period
Football: Limits the player’s participation time in that week’s game and he/she forfeit the minimum play requirements for his/her squad.
Cheer: Benches your player for one quarter of that week's game.

Missing two practices during a one week period
Football: Disqualifies your player from that week's game.
Cheer: Benches your player for two quarter’s and half time performances of that week's game.

Chronic absences
Football: Chronically being late or missing practices may result in termination from the squad.
Cheer: Because of the importance of stunting and teamwork, any absence can have a negative impact on the squad, particularly in the event of competitions. For this reason, excessive unexcused tardiness and/or early dismissals are not acceptable. Any cheerleader with excessive unexcused tardiness and/or early dismissal may be dropped from the squad.
